FCV Hybrid Platform A plug-in parallel hybrid for the Cherrier FCV platform. Drop in one part, be able to drive electric or combustion, one at time or together!​ Compatibility BeamNG.drive 0.39.4.0 (build 20972). Built and tested on that build; earlier 0.39 hotfixes are expected to work but were not tested. Only one part is required: the mod's 8-speed automatic transmission. Everything else the hybrid needs rides along inside it, so it works with any engine, any transfer case and any differential on the Cherrier FCV platform. Built, tested and calibrated on the Tograc; other FCV-platform cars should accept it but were not individually tested. Does not overwrite or replace any game file or vanilla part. Every part it adds is new and optional, sitting in its own slot or riding alongside your existing engine, transfer case and differential. What it does Fit the transmission and the car becomes a parallel hybrid: an electric motor and a battery pack sit between your engine and the wheels, and a control unit decides moment to moment whether the engine, the motor, or both are driving you. The transmission is a fast 8-Speed Automatic gearbox, with torque converter. It has two calibrations: For gasoline and Diesel engines. Gasolines focus on high revs (gasolines works better in higher revs), diesel focus on lower revs (diesel thrives on lower end torque). Use any engine you want, vanilla or mods, use any transfer case you want, vanilla or mods. Use any differential you want, vanilla or mods. All it takes for this mod to work is the transmission slot. Around town, it's electric. Below roughly 80 km/h | 50mph, the car drives on the electric motor alone unless you really get into the throttle — a double throttle press brings the combustion engine in immediately! Above that speed the engine is normally in, but it will still drop out under light, steady cruising when the battery has charge to spare, such as when you're on cruise control. The engine also works as an on-board charger. Ask for more charge than the car is currently giving, and it can hold the engine running to top up the battery — spooling harder for a faster charge, or gently for a quiet cruise-recharge, and it manages its own thermal load so it doesn't ask for more than the cooling can handle. Lifting off the throttle recuperates energy, with the strength of the effect following your drive mode: EV mode asks for the most, Sport backs it off to keep the car feeling normal to drive. It re-engages smoothly. Bringing the engine back in after a stretch of pure-electric driving is a smooth ramp-up rather than a jolt, whether the engine was idling along or fully shut off to save fuel. It works automatically. No confusing menus or hotkeys to bother with. It intelligently adapts to the default drivemodes, and even some mod drivemodes. By default, it works like this: EV - The only drivemode it genuinely adds. Usually sits before the stock "Comfort" mode. It runs the car exclusively electric and will only engage the ICE for generating power. Comfort - Stock drivemode. It transforms it to an usual hybrid. It runs electric-only until 80km/h | 50mph, then it swaps over for the combustion engine if you're pushing the throttle too hard. You can double-tap the throttle to bring the ICE for power at any moment. Over 80km/h | 50mph, it disengages the ICE and returns to electric if you haven't pushed the throttle over 90% for over 10 seconds, or if the cruise control is at the set speed. Sport, Offroad, ESP/TC Off - Stock drivemodes. It transforms into an assisted-launch hybrid. It runs electric and ICE in tandem until 80km/h, adding extra power, then ICE takes over afterwards. It doesn't fall back to electric-only. Arsenic - Stock drivemode. It's the Twinsport mode. The electric motor runs in tandem with the ICE all the time, and the ICE gets a slight turbo boost. Should be fast, and enough for a good few laps before the battery depletes. (Bonus: install the Hybrid gauge, go first person and do a 0-100!) If you use any mod that adds more drivemodes, it probably will just run like assisted-launch hybrid. I've only tested it on an AWD Tograc. Should be possible to make it RWD or FWD as usual, but behavior hasn't been tested. What comes in the box P2 Hybrid transmission (Main mod) — the part that makes everything above happen. Comes with its own battery pack (should virtually sit behind the rear seats) and electric motor, in a base (194hp at 6000RPM) and a high-output variant (360HP at 9000RPM, or 310HP at 6000RPM). P2 Hybrid app — an UI app panel showing battery charge, power flow between engine/motor/wheels, and a warning if the charger is being throttled by heat, for third-person mode. Hybrid instrument cluster — a dedicated dashboard face with battery and power gauges built in, so you don't need the app in first person to keep an eye on the pack. High-airflow radiator fan module — strongly recommended. Without it, the stock radiator fan is sized for a moving car; run the engine as a generator while parked (or crawling in traffic) and it can't shed enough heat. This part fixes that, so charging while stationary works the way it should (If not installed, the generator will thermal throttle rather easily, if you're stationary) A hotkey (bindable under Options > Controls) forces a full-power charge on demand, for when you want the pack topped up before you need it rather than when the car decides. The generator charges the battery at below 50% charge, and stops at 85%. Putting the gear in P below 70% charge also triggers the generator until 95%. The hotkey fires up the generator at any point below 100%, and will charge until 100% at max speed. Tap the hotkey again and it'll scale back the charging speed, but will still continue charging until 100%. Turn the engine off if you want it to stop for whatever reason (my favorite reason: going underwater lol) You can also use electric charging stations to charge the battery. Honest notes Tested and calibrated on the Tograc. The transmission is built to work with any Cherrier FCV-platform engine, transfer case and differential, but the electric assist, regen and charging strengths were felt and tuned on that car specifically. On a much lighter or heavier car on the same platform, the defaults may feel a little strong or a little soft — everything is exposed as tunable parts config values if you want to adjust it. Fit the radiator fan module too if you plan on charging with the car parked. Skipping it won't break anything, but the charger will throttle itself back sooner under heat. Installation Drop the zip into your mods folder. In the vehicle parts configurator, fit the 8-Speed Automatic (P2 Hybrid) transmission. The battery, motor and engine-type parts it needs come with it. For the full experience, also fit the Hybrid instrument cluster and the High Airflow Fan Module radiator part, and add the P2 Hybrid app from the UI editor (top menu > UI Apps / Edit UI Layout). Compatibility with other mods Nothing is overwritten, so it should sit alongside other Cherrier FCV mods. The one thing to watch is another mod that also drops files into the vehicle's own lua folder — if a controller from another mod stops updating after installing this, look there first.
