1980-1990 AW Astro ​ Lore: AW (Automobilwerke Wolfsburg) is a German motor vehicle manufacturer headquartered in Wolfsburg, Germany. Established in pre-WW2 times it became one of the most popular brands in automotive history taking over europe by a storm with affordable and reliable vehicles after 1950. ​ The AW Astro Gen 2 was produced by the German automotive manufacturer AW since 1980, it was an instant success in german and export markets. The original gen 1 Astro was a front-engined, front wheel drive vehicle targeted at working class of the people.
